COMPANY HISTORY:
In 2003, I developed fluxusmetalworks. This business evolved from my passions of exploring new techniques in the fields of 3-D design and traditional metalworking. My art and jewelry explore the beauty of nature; integrating the organic qualities in classic Art Nouveau, Gothic and Native styles. Avoiding the use of any synthetic material in my designs, I use naturally occurring stones – specifically treasuring stones that form naturally in the United States. In setting these stones, it is of utmost importance that they stay in their setting due to the structural integrity of the piece; I use no glues or adhesives. It is also very significant that my work is easily accessible to touch; under glass, kinetic components and small details are not easily detectable to the eye.

CURRENT DIRECTION:
Having over ten years of extensive training in fine art (including a BFA and many graduate level classes) rarely inspires my work. Instead, my influences are drawn from my first love, nature. Here I find beauty, magic, and many other forms of inspiration, as well as many of my materials. My love for metals, rocks, and elements formed in dramatic expressions of the Earth catapult me into the studio daily.
I approach these materials using traditional metalsmithing techniques. Beginning with an image on a piece of paper, I transfer it to a sheet of metal, and then pierce out the shape with a jewelers saw (which resembles a tiny coping saw). Each movement of my hand, my saw blade, and the myriad of other "tools of the trade" together in concert leave a unique trail or story behind specific to each of my pieces method of creation and its inspiration.
What my fine art training does do is push me to a very high level of traditional craftsmanship. I am hypercritical of my own work and continually challenge myself to improve my technique each and every time I create a new piece.
